The minimodule “The Akad Gym School of Magic” was inspired by “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” and took place on Friday 28 June 2019. The sixteen students who had been accepted at The AkadGym School of Magic had been sorted into their houses four days before.

The AkadGym Tabe has four rooms, which happens to be the exact number of houses in Hogwarts: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, with the AkadGym’s atrium being the Great Hall.

On Friday “The AkadGym School of Magic” really started. First, each student went to their Common Room and decorated it. When they had finished, each house was called for the photo booth, where the students of witchcraft and wizardry took many photos and posed for selfies.

One house did an English Story Slam, where they wrote ghost stories and stories about magical creatures for the “AkadGym Gazette” with their English teacher Mr Lutsch. Another house had Latin Spell Casting with their Latin teacher Mr Steinbichler and prepared for a Wizarding Duel.

Meanwhile, the other houses did a Harry Potter Quiz with our visiting student Lukas from Cardiff, or they brewed butterbeer with our visiting restaurant management lecturer Domenico Birenti.

Afterwards, all houses gathered in the Great Hall and watched important scenes of the first Harry Potter movie in English. The minimodule ended with a Harry Potter Kahoot, after which all students received their The AkadGym School of Magic School Reports. “This was real fun, and we want to do this Module again next year, when we have Latin and can enrol for Advanced Spell Reading and Spell Casting for Beginners!” say Nicole and Jana of AkadGym Class 1e.
